Today is September 6. On this date in 1997, millions throughout the world mourned and watched the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales from Westminster Abbey in London, England, who was killed in a car accident in Paris a week prior.
I will always remember watching Elton John sing an updated version of his “Candle in the Wind.” Outside of a tribute to Diana a decade later, this was the only time Elton sang the song live.
